The Challenge

Twenty years in the weather.

A string inverter dissipates 50–150 W of heat inside a sealed IP65 enclosure exposed to direct sunlight, rain, and temperature swings from −25 °C to +60 °C, for a warranty period of 20 to 25 years. IGBT and SiC switching devices push junction temperatures past 150 °C during peak generation. The thermal interface materials and encapsulants that move this heat to the heatsink must survive thousands of thermal cycles without cracking, pump-out, or loss of adhesion.

Inverter thermal interface

Gap fillers and pads (1.0–6.0 W/m·K) that pull heat from IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs into the heatsink, sized for your stack-up gap and compression tolerance, maintaining thermal resistance below specification through 2,000+ power cycles.

Encapsulation & potting

Two-part silicone and polyurethane systems that protect PCBs, magnetics, and bus bars from moisture, salt fog, and thermal cycling in IP65/IP67 outdoor enclosures, with UL 94 V-0 flame ratings where required.

Reliability qualification

Material selection backed by accelerated thermal-cycling (IEC 61215), damp-heat, and UV-ageing data, matched to the 25-year field life your product warranty has to cover.
